As a designer, the word "Style" has many associations. Most see it in a more rigid frame- as if it were something mystical you cannot teach or attain without constant devotion to an idea or craft.

In both my studies and work in the field, I have found that any style can be emulated- but you have to first learn to look at it from a different dimension. The more complex something seems, the simpler the underlying patterns and construction are. Instead of seeing style as a "learned technique"- you break it down into its core elements and rationalize its composition.

As an artist and designer, it should always be my prerogative to maintain this different view of style. As an example, the overall style of this site (and all of my own personal business stationary) is done with a dark and gritty feel. However, I have achieved this using warm colors instead of what most people consider to be "dark" colors.
